An age calculator tells you how much time has passed between two dates—for example, from your birth date to today, or between any two events. The result can be shown in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Use it to find your exact age, project milestones, or the length of any period.

How age and date intervals are calculated

The calculator uses calendar arithmetic: it counts full years and months between the two dates, then the remaining days. Time of day is used to compute hours, minutes, and seconds. All values are whole numbers except when you need total duration in a single unit (e.g. total days or total seconds).

Leap years and month lengths are taken into account when counting years and months.

Tips for using the age calculator

Quick tips:

  • Use start date as your birth date and leave end date empty to see your current age.
  • Use end date to see how old you were on a specific date or to measure an interval between two events.
  • For maximum precision (hours, minutes, seconds), enter both date and time.

Frequently asked questions about age calculation

How is age in years and months calculated?▼
Age is calculated in full calendar years and months: we count how many complete years have passed, then how many complete months after that, then the remaining days. So you get a breakdown like "25 years, 3 months, 10 days" rather than a decimal.
Why do hours, minutes, and seconds change during the day?▼
If you use "today" as the end date, the end moment is the current time. So as time passes, the hours, minutes, and seconds increase. For a fixed end date and time, the result stays the same.
Can I calculate the interval between any two dates?▼
Yes. Use the start date for the beginning of the period and the end date for the end. The calculator works for any two dates in the past or future, as long as the start is before the end.
